If you just explain your situation to the seller politely If a person is outbid it's not logical to expect people to wait potentially over a week for an auction to end before purchasing the item elsewhere. you had lost and went and made purchasing decisions elsewhere. I feel like having been outbid is a perfectly good reason to no longer be obligated to buy the product. I'm starting to think maybe this whole bidding thing isn't for me or maybe I'm just going about it the wrong way. I always try to contact the seller but they never cancel my bid even after explaining my circumstances. This has happened to me four times already in less than a month and I actually won something recently and had to buy it because the seller said that I was legally obligated. This gives me a lot of anxiety because I thought that there was no way I was going to win this one item, bought it elsewhere, and then suddenly I have to potentially purchase more than what I had wanted.
And more often than not, this retraction or cancellation literally happens hours or even days after I've been outbid so I had thought that I didn't even stand a chance of winning, hence why I looked elsewhere. However, this phenomenon has been happening to me lately where potential buyers who outbid me would retract their bid or have the seller cancel it, making me the highest bidder for an item that I have already purchased elsewhere/no longer need.
